Welcome to our donor reporting letter called the Point Guard. For those of us who support this ministry with our prayers, time and resources: we act as guardians of Zephyr Point – thus the name Point Guards. As part of this team we want to encourage you with a brief devotional thought and keep you informed of news and prayer needs on a quarterly basis. Please open and enjoy the most recent editions of the Point Guard.

THE POINT GUARD

A quarterly publication for the Supporters of Zephyr Point

April 1, 2010

Dear Donors,
Lake Tahoe used to be much fuller. According to local geologists, during the last Ice Age the Truckee River that flows out of the lake was blocked by a huge glacial dam. The resulting lake level was as much as 800 feet higher than today’s shore line. To gain perspective on just how deep this would be, imagine all the high rise casinos on the south end of the lake totally submerged. Even today the volume of water the lake contains is staggering. For instance, the Panama Canal (700 feet in width and 50 feet in depth) could be filled by Lake Tahoe’s water and extend completely around the earth at the equator, with enough remaining in the lake to fill another channel of the same width and depth running from San Francisco to New York. If you tipped Lake Tahoe over like a basin, pouring its contents over the State of California, the state would be completely covered to a depth of over a foot. That’s a lot of H2O.
Inexhaustible as Tahoe’s water seems, there is an infinitely deeper supply according to the scriptures. John chapter 4 tells the famous account of the woman at the well. This woman’s spiritual reservoir was as dry and cracked as the Mojave Desert. But at the well, she met the source of living water: Jesus. The flow of the spirit of God swept this woman away and refreshed her in a way she never could have imagined. The incredible thing about living water is that it is truly inexhaustible. When our spiritual well seems low God stands ready to replenish our soul with an infusion of the fluid refreshment of His Spirit. “ But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:14

This summer we will be agents of this living water. Every guest has a spiritual cistern that needs filling. Pray for us as we prepare to minister to these folks through our Zephyr Point sponsored retreats and guest events.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bedford Holmes
Executive Director

Zephyr Prayer Needs

Pray for our Development Committee as we organize strategies to the raise the necessary funds we need for the ministry. In particular we are seeking to establish strong ties with foundations and trusts to secure the major gifts we need for Zephyr Point’s long term growth and stability. Let us know if you have connections with these kinds of organizations.

Pray for the staff as they prepare for our busy spring and summer season. We have many details to get in place and need to be efficient and thorough.

Pray for the safety of our guests and staff in the months ahead – that the Lord would build a strong hedge of protection around Zephyr Point with no major injuries or accidents.

Pray for Randy Carter, one of our maintenance workers. He is recovering from surgery related to a growth on his kidneys. Pray for his full recovery, quick healing and comfort from the pain.
