Ethnic Concerns Consultation

2024 Event Dates: October 18-20

Ethnic Concerns Consultation, or ECC, is dedicated to bringing education and awareness of the concerns of ethnic groups to churches and all of Christendom.  The ECC is a place of encouragement that provides avenues for ethnic groups to be connected to and involved in the ministry of the Presbyterian Church (USA).   Special time for youth engagement and activities for all ages is planned.  The ECC invites those who seek the full diversity of the church in our growing and changing culture.  All are welcome to join us at Zephyr Point in October as we come together to enable spiritual growth and cultural awareness and learn how the ECC will advocate for racial and economic justice issues in the church and society.

About the ECC

It was January of 1973 when the first Ethnic Consultation of Evangelism and Mission was held – the purpose of which was to share ethnic concerns and to explore ways of Christian outreach meaningful to BIPOC persons. The Ethnic Concerns Committee (now called the Ethnic Concerns Consultation or ECC) emerged from the initial consultation and currently represents a wide diversity of ethnic backgrounds and churches within Northern and Central California and Nevada.

The vision of the ECC

The Ethnic Concerns Committee will come together to enable spiritual growth and cultural awareness. The ECC will also advocate for racial and economic justice issues in the Church and society.

The ECC will

  • Nurture cross-cultural awareness and understanding.
  • Participate in education and consensus building around racial and economic justice issues for the purpose of taking stands as the ECC.
  • Involve newly emerging ethnic churches/fellowship, being especially sensitive to language needs.
  • Enable total involvement of the ECC membership in all the activities of the annual Consultation.
  • Increase spiritual emphasis and theological basis for our activities.
  • Plan worship that involves all the ethnic groups.

Voices of Change: Justice from Generation to Generation

At this year’s ECC, we will have the opportunity to embody the spirit of intergenerational collaboration and solidarity in pursuit of a more just world. As individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups, we will come together to share our stories, insights, and experiences related to social justice. By amplifying the voices of different generations, this conference seeks to foster empathy, understanding, and unity in the ongoing fight for justice and equality. Join us for a line-up of incredible speakers, meaningful dialogue, and reflection on how past struggles and triumphs inform our present efforts and shape the path forward toward a more equitable future.
