Frequently asked questions:

What is the timeline for the application season?

Applications for Summer 2025 are open now until all positions are filled. That said, here are some important dates to keep in mind:

Application Opens: Late November

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis – meaning the earlier you get your application in, the better!

Interviews Begin: Early January

  • After reviewing applications, qualified applicants will be sent an invitation to interview with the Zephyr Point program team via Zoom. You can expect 2 staff members to be in your interview, and you will be asked questions about your interest in joining the Zephyr Point team, previous work experience, and community life.

Preliminary Offers Sent: Early March

  • Those who have already interviewed will be sent a preliminary offer to join the Summer Staff. At this time, you will not receive confirmation of your assigned position. The intention of this step is to help you prepare for your summer season, secure travel plans, and more.

First Round Application Deadline: March 15th

  • This is the priority deadline to be considered in our first round of applications. If there are still available positions after March 15th, the application will remain open until all positions are filled.

Official Offers

  • By the end of March, you will receive an official offer letter detailing your assigned position on staff and the opportunity to accept or decline the position.

The short answer – NO! We understand that faith and spirituality can be messy, and we welcome applicants in all stages of their spiritual journey to join us on Summer Staff. As a member of our team, questions are welcomed, and curiosity is celebrated. All that we ask is that you bring a spirit of authenticity and a willingness to learn and grow with us this summer.

There are some positions that have more interaction with the Christian tradition. As a Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center, we do write a faith-based summer curriculum rooted in the Reformed Tradition and progressive Christian faith and practice. We ask that members of Summer Staff are respectful of this heritage, but are not expected to hold beliefs consistent with those of the PC(USA).

We totally understand that the world goes on while we are at summer camp! We do our best to accommodate short-term pre-existing commitments, but review these requests on a case-by-case basis. Please keep in mind that depending on the length of the requested leave, your pay may be modified according to our Summer Staff time-off policy.

If you already know that you have a commitment during the summer but would still like to work with us, reach out to the program department to discuss your options. We would love to work with you to find a solution that allows you to spend your summer with us!

Absolutely! We recognize that many university schedules have a very short overlap with our staff training week (June 13-20) – especially those on the quarter system. If you would like to work at Zephyr Point but know that our season conflicts with your final exam schedule, please reach out to the Program office (programs@zephyrpoint.org) to discuss your options.

As  a member of the Zephyr Point Summer staff, you are invited to live in an intentional community with your peers throughout the summer. Not only will you live side-by-side in Lakeview Lodge, but you will have the opportunity to grow and learn from one another centered around some common values.

Communal living allows for mutual support and encouragement in the hustle and bustle of camp life. As members in a shared community, we learn that our lives are interconnected and we have responsibility toward all members as they do to us. Intentional living calls us to be open, compassionate, and willing to grow, honor and uplifting the gifts, talents, voices and contributions of others.

As a member of this intentional community, Members of Summer Staff are asked to commit to the following practices:

  • Do my best to get to know my neighbors, in addition to growing in knowledge of myself
  • Take part in community activities, including meal times, weekly spiritual offerings and special events
  • Practice healthy communication by bringing frustrations and concerns directly to the individual in question rather than spreading gossip or triangulating with other members of the community
  • Care for my neighbors by practicing mutual respect, in addition to caring for myself through regular self-care practices
  • Practice hospitality, by refraining from demonstrations of prejudice against any individual or group of individuals on the basis of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, politics, and/or socioeconomic status.

Any additional questions about the application process can be directed to the ZP Programs team by emailing programs@zephyrpoint.org.
