Licensed Nurses are invited to share their specialized skills by joining the Zephyr Point camp team this summer. Volunteer Camp Nurses are an absolutely vital part of the camp experience. Zephyr Point campers range in age from 6-17, and the Camp Nurse acts not only as a first responder in the case of emergencies, but offer care for minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, and bruises and distribution of prescription medications. Most of our campers are elementary aged, so Camp Nurses tend to offer lots of emotional support and Band-Aids! We can’t wait to welcome you to the ZP Camp family!
Dates: Zephyr Point Runs 8 weeks of summer youth programs. We look to bring on one camp nurse for each week. We will take your preference for weeks and then offer you a week depending on what is still available. The camp weeks are as follows
Week 1 – June 17-21
Week 2- June 24-28
Week 3 – July 1-3 (3 days of camp only)
Week 4 – July 8-12
Week 5 – July 14-19 (overnight program)
Week 6 – July 21-26 (overnight program)
Week 7 – July 29 – August 2
Week 8 – August 5-9
Who can volunteer: We are looking to accept up to 8 individuals who are licensed nurses. Priority goes to nurses who have either had specific pediatric patient experience or has worked with youth in other settings.
Volunteer Hours: Our typical camp hours run 8:15am-4:15pm, Monday-Friday. Volunteer Camp Nurses operate on-call during the week. During weeks that our Basecamp program is running, camp nurses may be asked to work a few extra hours during the week due to the overnight component of those programs. You are welcome to hang out in your cabin, in the coffee shop, on the beach, or anywhere on property while the camp day is happening. We just ask that you stay on site with the radio we provide on and in range for you to be able to respond to any situation you might be needed.
Room/Board: All volunteers will be housed on-site in one of our private cabins for the duration of your stay at camp. Lodging will be available starting the Saturday before your camp week through the Saturday after your camp week. In addition to lodging, dinner will be provided in our dinning hall facilities during your week as well as a modest food stipend, of $200/week that you can use to buy groceries.
